Rework, don’t rebuild

At Vallourec’s headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt, we redeployed the monobloc partitions of part of the floor: a focused intervention, on an occupied site, built on reuse.

Concept

Floor reconfiguration in an occupied environment

Vallourec is a global leader in premium tubular solutions for energy and industry. The 2018 Paris project reconfigured 1,200 sqm for 80 workstations, in an occupied environment, in two months.

Vallourec, a specialist in tubular solutions for the energy sector, houses its international project teams at its Boulogne-Billancourt headquarters. In 2018, the company wanted to adapt the partition layout of part of its floor, without relocating and without interrupting its teams. Kytom worked on this limited scope with a simple goal: matching the spaces to how the teams actually work.

Adapting what exists rather than rebuilding

Adapting what exists rather than rebuilding

The need justified neither stripping out nor rebuilding. The monobloc partitions in place, demountable by design, made it possible to reconfigure the spaces by moving them. The real challenge was operational: working zone by zone, on an occupied site, around teams working continuously.

Reuse as a principle: the monobloc partitions redeployed

Reuse as a principle: the monobloc partitions redeployed

We dismantled, moved and refitted the existing monobloc partitions to draw the new layout of the floor. Work was sequenced zone by zone, outside peak activity. New supplies were kept to the strict minimum: the project essentially relies on reusing what was already there.

A modest project, exemplary in circular economy

The reconfigured floor was delivered without any interruption of business. By reusing the partitions rather than replacing them, the project avoided buying new material and discarding elements in perfect condition. It is a concrete illustration of Kytom’s circular-economy approach: the most modest solution was also the fastest and the most economical.
