Dailymotion accelerates its transformation
In 2011, Dailymotion established itself as one of the major players in online video in Europe. In a digital communication sector in full effervescence, the French platform faced a significant challenge: to physically embody its culture of innovation and agility in order to attract the best tech talent in an ultra-competitive market.
The company occupied a 500 m² space in the heart of Paris, but it reflected neither its startup DNA nor its ability to constantly reinvent itself. The challenge went beyond fit-out: it was about creating a work environment capable of stimulating creativity, fostering spontaneous interactions and projecting a differentiating employer brand image.
All of this with a major constraint: just one month to deliver an operational space, without disrupting the activity of a constantly growing team.
Agility as a founding principle
Faced with these imperatives, our approach was structured around a clear vision: to design a workplace that breathes the startup spirit while ensuring impeccable functionality. From the architectural design phase, we prioritised organisational flexibility as the backbone of the project. The aim was not to freeze uses, but to create a spatial ecosystem capable of evolving at the pace of the teams.
This turnkey design and build approach enabled us to orchestrate all the trades with millimetre-precise synchronisation, essential given the tight deadline. The office fit-out was conceived as a living infrastructure, where each zone dialogues with the others to encourage serendipity and collaborative innovation.
The overall design incorporates a bold urban aesthetic, blending raw materials and touches of colour inspired by the digital world, thus creating a strong visual identity that reinforces the brand’s appeal. Wellbeing at work naturally emerged as a priority, reflecting the conviction that performance and quality of life are inseparable.
A carefully orchestrated technical execution
Bringing this vision to life mobilised a range of technical expertise deployed in a rigorous choreography. The IT cabling was designed as an intelligent and scalable infrastructure, anticipating the future needs of a constantly evolving tech company, with access points strategically positioned to guarantee optimal connectivity across all spaces.
The deployment of high-performance movable partitions made it possible to create modular zones without sacrificing acoustics or natural light, thus offering the possibility of reconfiguring spaces according to projects and team composition. The décor was treated as a genuine visual language: modular furniture with clean lines, chromatic palettes inspired by the brand identity, wall graphics that tell the story of the platform.
Every material choice meets a twofold imperative: durability and aesthetic coherence. The challenge of the tight deadline was turned into an asset thanks to surgical planning of the interventions, with teams working in just-in-time yet perfectly coordinated flows.
The reception area incorporates an automated access control system that combines security and fluidity, setting the tone from the very entrance: technology at the service of the user experience.
An ecosystem that inspires
One month after the start of the project, Dailymotion has a fully operational 500 m² space that exceeds the initial objectives. The impact is measured first in usage: informal collaboration areas are spontaneously occupied, teams take ownership of the modular spaces according to their project needs, and the fluidity of circulation encourages cross-departmental exchanges.
In terms of employer brand, the effect is immediate: the workplace becomes a tangible recruitment argument in a sector where the war for talent is raging.
As a member of the management summarises: « We achieved in one month what we thought would take six: a space that truly resembles us, that facilitates our daily work and that impresses our visitors. » Beyond the square metres, it is a corporate culture that finds its spatial expression, proving that with the right strategic vision and a masterful execution, time constraints can catalyse innovation rather than hinder it.
